Our quarterly Celebration day which was held last Thursday 25th July 2015 was a great success. Not a teary eye in sight, but rather loads of beaming smiles and warm “good-byes” It all started at 10am on the sunny Thursday morning.
Delicious chocolatey snacks had been laid out on a table in the College reception, accompanied by some tropical fruit punch and an expectant Lindsey Johnson; the College’s Business Engagement Consultant. At about 10:30 am, the Learners started to flock in, eager to receive their shiny new certificates, but not so eager to say good-bye to us just yet. It’s quite interesting to think that ones entire progress, development and evolution is all summed up on a single sheet of A4 Ryman Certificate Paper.
Of course it doesn’t just end there; our learners come and leave equipped with experiences and skills for life. It’s like taking a rusty, muddy Chevy Silverado through a car wash, and watching it come out on the other side, sparkling and rust free! One would think, all the wash does is wipe and scrape off the rust and mud. However, looking at the bigger picture, that wash unlocks the trucks true potential and identity! Yet again, the magic doesn’t end there; our members of staff are left with a sense of fulfilment, as they watch these learners grow after only a few months in our care.
By the time all the cakes and chocolate biscuits were gone, a few photos and videos taken by Yvonne Udeagha; our social media and web intern, and a quick snap shot by Tom from the Telegraph and Argus, at 2:45pm we were ready say all our warm “good-byes” and send our learners off with well wishes as they begun a new chapter of their lives.
